Accessing your server from home:

 

IMPORTANT:  Download the file from the school’s server to your home computer.  Logoff the server. Edit and save the file to your home computer.  Then upload file from your home computer to the school’s server. 

 

You cannot work ON the server.  It will look like you can, but your changes will NOT be saved.

 

1.  Go to http://207.28.162.241:51080/oneNet/netstorage (be sure to use a colon after “241” and capitalize the “N” in oneNet.)

 

2.  When the login screen appears, enter your server username as shown below.  The password is the same one you use here at school.

 

If your name is John Smith:

 

 

Then enter your SERVER password.

 

3.  The list of server folders now appears as it does at school on Windows computers.   Double-click on the server folder with your name.  (Macintosh users:  choose from the list on the left side of the window.)  A list of files & folders that you have saved to the server should appear. 

 

TO DOWNLOAD FILES FROM THE SERVER TO YOUR COMPUTER:

 

4.  Double-click on the file you want to download and SAVE it to your computer. DO NOT JUST OPEN IT. 

 

5.  Go to FILE (The “file” immediately above the file names—not the “file” from your browser menu at the very top.) and LOGOUT out of the server.

 

6.  Open the file that you saved to your computer and make necessary changes, saving the file to your computer again.  

 

 TO UPLOAD FILES FROM YOUR COMPUTER TO THE SERVER:

 

7.  Log onto the server following steps 1-3 above.

 

8.  Immediately above the file names, go to FILE and UPLOAD.   (Not the FILE from your browser menu at the very top.) 

 

9. Click on BROWSE to find the file saved to your computer and click OPEN.    Then click UPLOAD.   (This will replace the file with the same name that is stored on the server.)

 

10.  Go to FILE and LOGOUT
